La Jolla Groves - The Shops at the Riverwoods

La Jolla Groves in the Shops At the Riverwoods is one of my new favorite restaurants in Provo.  Owner and executive chef, Kent Anderson, knows exactly what he's doing!  Also the owner of Malawi's (in the Shops at the Riverwoods as well), Chef Kent creates his amazing dishes with super fresh ingredients, local when possible, that result in food that really fill and satisfy.
The restaurant itself was designed to resemble a lemon grove and it does just that.
Everything feels refined and exquisite without going overboard.  Reasonably priced, you won't find your wallet empty from just one meal here.  La Jolla Groves has repeat guests that come for dinner one evening, and return for lunch the next day!
La Jolla Groves appeals to me most because I.  Love.  LEMONS.
I'm not totally sure why that is, but I always have and this lemon bundt cake with caramelized sugar dome absolutely hit the spot!  Sweet, but still tangy like lemon should be (in my own opinion) and just the right size that I don't feel horrible eating the whole thing myself.  ;)

Back to the beginning of the meal...  the appetizers were delicious as well.  Artichoke dip and crusty bread (pictured), fresh tomato slices with mozzarella, basil and balsamic vinegar... I didn't try anything I didn't like!

 Watermelon Mint Salad

 The entrees... oh the entrees!
This salmon was so delicious!
These steak medallions were DIVINE!
While I like the flavor of steak, I don't usually eat it because I hate how it gets stuck in my teeth.  True story.  This steak, however, was pure perfection!  Deliciously tender, amazing flavor... ooh, I wish I had some right now!

If you need a date night with your hubby, get yourself a babysitter (you'll want to be able to really enjoy the flavors in everything without distraction) and enjoy the quiet, fresh ambiance that is La Jolla Groves.

(and then do some shopping at Blickenstaffs & Zion's Mercantile and finish with yum ice cream from Ike's!) ;)

Find La Jolla Groves on Facebook to see what their latest specialties are!

Zion's Mercantile - Shops At The Riverwoods

Zion's Mercantile in Provo's Shops at the Riverwoods is a fun little LDS bookstore full of replicas, originals, and lots of fun stories and background!  I'm a little bit embarrassed to admit that I was unaware that this little piece of Nauvoo was right here in Utah!

There are so many neat things at Zion's Mercantile.  Stained glass like those found on the Nauvoo, Illinois LDS Temple, replicas of Porter Rockwell's gun and Book of Mormon, amazing artwork by Bob Boyd (who came to talk with us and was down right awesome!), and they even have little treats including fresh baked bread and honey butter!  If you need a special gift for someone this holiday season or just want a little something for yourself, be sure to check out Zion's Mercantile at the Shops At the Riverwoods.  It will not disappoint!

Find Zion's Mercantile on their Facbook page too!

Ike's - Utah's Best Ice Cream

Ike's ice cream is located just inside the Provo Beach Resort with Utah's best ice cream!  They carry Blue Bell ice cream that is amazingly tasty!  Never mind that the weather is turning frightful and chilly, ice cream this delicious should be enjoyed year round!
Caitlin of Cait Create, myself & Janae of Pink Moss

Built to resemble a 50s diner, Ike's little corner of the Provo Beach Resort is just what Grandma and Grandpa will remember from when they were younger.  Complete with black and white flooring, shiny red bar stools, an old fashioned Coke machine with bottles of Coke and good old fashioned customer service with a smile!

Blickenstaffs - Utah's BEST Vintage Candy Store

Blickenstaffs is one of my very favorite vintage candy stores!

They really do have something for everyone!  The idea behind the store is to have a place where old and young alike can go together and have a flood of childhood memories come rushing back and to create new ones TOGETHER.

I love the vintage feel with the perks of seeing new and fun things as well!  Now you can even shop online!!

Be sure to check the Blickenstaffs blog and get ready for the 12 Days of Christmas when they'll have a specific item in the store that some lucky customer will receive for FREE, each day!  On the first day, one lucky person will get the designated item.  On day 2, there will be TWO winners!  Day 3, three winners, and so on, until the 12th day when they'll be giving out TWELVE FREE ITEMS!!  How perfect is that!?  So be sure to check out the blog for all the details and to scope out what the chosen item will be so you'll know if you want to make the trip!

Blickenstaffs is an amazing store that you definitely don't want to miss out on!  There are so many options in just one store that can't be beat!  Family games, games good for road trips, fun flash cards, toys, candies and sweets, puzzles, ride-on toys... the list goes on and on!  So bundle up your family, grab Grandma and Grandpa and head on down to Blickenstaffs in the Shops at the Riverwoods and see what memories you can make together.

Find Blickenstaffs on Facebook, Twitter & YouTube!!

ALSO, don't forget BLACK FRIDAY at Blickenstaffs when the WHOLE STORE will be **20% OFF!!**

Car blogging

I find myself in the car more and more these days. Makes it difficult to blog, no?  I'm not really sure why I didn't think to look for an app to do it sooner.  But here I am, blogging while waiting for my little Turkey to get done with preschool. :)

I'm being featured as a side deal on Groopdealz today! (today is the last day) I have lots of new things lined up for my new shop and the cream ruffle purse on Groopdealz is one of the new designs! While available only in classic, neutral, and oh-so-versatile cream muslin, it will also be available in other fabulous colors when I launch my new sister shop! Look for a swingin introductory discount when that happens as well!!

Hope your Monday is a goodie! I'm feeling a little blah today. No motivation to do anything at all (including the dang laundry, as always, and the dishes that are resembling a mountain at the moment) I feel the need for retail therapy. Or running. I really want to go for a run, but it's too stinking cold in the wee hours of the morning and my hubs doesn't get home until after dark. Oh poo. Press on we must in order to not completely lose my sanity. ;)

Love my kiddilees!  Love my hubs!  Love you all as well, my friends!

well hey there!

wow.  life gets so busy and i quite often get lost in the hustle bustle of it all.  :)

lately i've been working a lot (sewing and planning for my shop) with Brittany of Love Stitched.  she's UH-MAZING if you didn't know.  she and i go waaaaay back to the good ol days of hair school in '03 when we wore all black 5 days a week and played with hair all the time.  ;)  love her!

there are some BIG and FUN changes in the works and i'm so excited to be working on it right now!  when it's ready, you'll be sure to know!!  :)

other fun things going on for me right now are planning a trip to Hawaii to see my cute little brother-in-law get married, making major changes in my eating habits, and finally starting to find the balance of 'work' and regular life.  so many things are falling into place lately and it's nice to not feel so out of control and crazy.  i know my husband appreciates not being on the back burner anymore.  :)

i always thought i was good at time management.  apparently not.  i was having a really hard time balancing time for sewing/planning for THE SHOP, HOUSEHOLD duties (laundry, dishes, everyday cleaning), being a MOMMA to my babies, and being a WIFE to my husband.  it was all a lot of small things that piled up and finally kind of blew up in my face.  that's when i really realized i don't know what i'm doing and need help.  enter Brittany.  :)  she told me flat out what i needed to do, how i could do it and pointed out some things to fix, all of which would help me achieve the happy medium i was looking for.

and it's working!!

i'm happier, less stressed.  my husband and kids are happier - we have more QUALITY time together.  things are getting planned and done for the shop.  and while it isn't perfect yet, i'm in a better spot overall and that is making the biggest difference.

i feel so blessed with loving friends and family that support me and help me along the way and help me make my dreams come true!

**i contribute to posts over here if you're interested in other crafting stuff!  :)**
